Everything can be art - it's just a matter of how you approach it. This piece of artwork is a repetitive pattern of can tops. Each one of the can's is painted in a different colour to create some variation - and the overall effect is eye-catching, which is really what art is all about. Does it get your attention? Does it make you think? Hmmmm, coke can tops on board and in a frame - intereeeeesting!

CREATIVITY

JOTO Designs gets it's name from my name (John Torr). Not very original, but then I eventually found out that the Japanese word 'joto' actually means 'good' as in creative - so I kept it! As for John Torr (my middle name is Christian), I will leave that alone, except to say that Indonesians often laugh when hearing my name.
Vinyl Obsessions is all about vinyl records - nothing unique there, except that I don't sell 'em to play 'em - I sell 'em to put on the wall (NOSTALGIA). I mean, if you're like me then you won't have a record player and probably haven't even seen one for the past 20 years (or so). Actually I have one now (Christmas present) and I sometimes record the records onto CD, when the chance presents itself (which isn't often). The list is long (about 1000), so there's plenty to choose from.

TED

A friend of mine (Rob) put me onto this webpage and I've been into it ever since. The last presentation I watched was about puppets and how a two men (boyfriends?) had produced a full size puppet horse for a stage play. They came on stage with a puppet hyena, which was pretty convincing. Disbelief was effectively suspended and the puppet seemed alive and real. It stared briefly at the audience and then it's tail swished in comic friendliness, as if it was a domestic pet rather than a wild animal. In effect, the hyena became approachable and almost loveable, even though it looked ragged and suitably ugly.

The horse was even more intriguing. I was a fascinating presentation and just one of many that can be seen on this page. Ideas worth spreading....... for sure!
